Tips
Rewrite your resume to represent the value you've added in your positions rather than a list of skills you have and responsibilities – more of a case study approach. What problems did you solve? What projects did you complete? What did you contribute to the bottom line of the company?
Proof your resume. Proof it again. Have a friend proof it. Proof it some more. Errors in resumes are a big red flag for us! Beware your MySpace and Facebook profiles. Review them and remove any information that could be perceived as offensive, inaccurate or negative by a potential employer. Recruiters and employers DO check your social networking profiles.
Speaking of social networking – DO IT! If you’re looking for a job, social networking is the best way to find one.
Ensure that you have a proper and appropriate business-like email address. No silly names. No offending acronyms. No private jokes.
